Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie is the first-ever winner of the newly created category.
The 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards was held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Georgia, United States this past weekend with comedian, actor and entertainer, Lil Duval hosting the night.
Which Ghana’s fastest and most decorated rapper Sarkodie (Michael Owusu Addo) made history once again by putting Africa on the map for all.
The rapper beat out the likes of Falz the Bahd Guy, Ghetts and Little Simz, Nasty C and Tory Lanez to take home the award for the newly created ‘Best International Flow’ category.
HE was presented the award by Ugandan Get Out star, Daniel Kaluuya, in which The artist dedicated the award to his daughter, Titi and used his acceptance speech to urge audience members to take a trip to Ghana during the year of return.
He said “I just want to say thank you to the Almighty God. To family, this one is for my lil girl Titi…. I think Africa has always had it and it is about that time. This year is the Year of Return and I will urge each and every one of you here to take a trip back home.”

Several artists, including Wizkid, Stonebwoy, Joey B, actor Van Vicker and more took to social media to congratulate Sarkodie on his big win.
